Washed filter coffee with notes of Red berry, Rhubarb and Rosehip.
In the 1930s Scott Labs was hired to carry out agricultural research in Kenya. Their focus was to catalogue, cultivate and identify the most suitable varieties for farmers. 42 species were studied for productivity, quality, disease & drought resistance. Their findings were SL-28 & SL-34; complex, sparkling acidity, juicy body & super sweet, but not rust resistant.
Batian was developed in 2000s through cross breeding & is naturally more resistant - so greater yield, but also lessening the need for pesticides!
